BPM Minerals Reports High-Grade Gold Intersections from First Two Holes
In briefAt-a-glance3 takeaways
  • 01First two Bonnie & Clyde holes hit 4m at 20.57g/t and 8m at 9.23g/t gold.
  • 02High-grade intercepts remain open along strike and down dip.
  • 03Drilling continues; assays from the maiden campaign are due early next year.

BPM Minerals (ASX: BPM) has reported high-grade assays from the first two holes to be drilled at the Bonnie & Clyde prospect within its Forelands gold project Western Australia.

The prospect—an untested, six-kilometre-long, 100 parts per billion gold-in-soil anomaly exhibiting the footprint of a major gold system—has so far been subject to 38 reverse circulation holes for a total 5,272 metres as part of the company’s 65-hole maiden campaign.

Best assays from the first two holes returned 4m at 20.57 grams per tonne gold from 39m including 1m at 73.33g/t from 40m, and 8m at 9.23g/t gold from 71m including 1m at 64.71g/t from 72m with both intercepts characterised by a single metre of high-grade mineralisation, open along strike and down dip.

A paleochannel of around 30m in thickness consisting of unconsolidated quartz-rich sands and gravels is thought to overlay the prospective basement rocks, which are generally oxidised to 60m below the surface and initially proved difficult to drill through.

Four Priority Anomalies

Drilling at Bonnie & Clyde is expected to continue through to year end, testing four priority gold-in-soil anomalies through 27 holes for 4,700m with all assays expected early in the new year.

A diamond rig is currently being sourced with several diamond holes anticipated to be completed during the current quarter, and BPM is also planning an induced polarisation (IP) survey to investigate gold mineralisation associated with disseminated pyrite at the site, partially funded by an exploration incentive scheme grant from the state government.

This geophysical technique is reported to have been key to the discovery of Regis Resources’ (ASX: RRL) 7.89 million ounce Tropicana gold deposit, located approximately 220km northeast of Forelands on the western edge of WA’s Great Victoria Desert.

Historical drilling at Tropicana’s Dragonfly prospect immediately along strike to the south of Bonnie & Clyde encountered Tropicana-style mineralisation related to thick tabular shear zones with thrust-related deformation, biotite-pyrite-sericite alteration and quartz-sulphide veining.

BPM said that following this gold-bearing structure into a zone of significant deformation could produce an environment for the emplacement of a significant gold deposit such as Bonnie & Clyde.

Forelands Project Acquisition

BPM entered into an exclusive option agreement in mid-2025 to acquire the Forelands project which hosts high-grade, near-surface, visible gold mineralisation and includes the advanced Beachcomber prospect and an opportunity for near-term resource conversion.

The district-scale asset sits across a consolidated landholding of 630 square kilometres along the Yilgarn Craton-Albany Fraser Orogen margin within an analogous tectonic setting to the Tropicana deposit.

Widespread gold mineralisation has been confirmed by previous explorers over 75km of strike, with more than 40 drill holes recording grades of higher than 1g/t gold in basement and numerous untested zones of potential mineralisation indicated by historical aircore and auger drilling.

Forelands has returned best historical high-grade gold intercepts of 3m at 65.8g/t gold from 25m, 9.7m at 4.5g/t gold from 88.8m, and 3m at 13.5g/t gold from 90m across multiple prospects.
